Chili Powder is just a mixture of several spices, so you can easily make your own.

Servings: 1 (3.83 tbsp, enough for 1 pot of chili).

Before You Begin

There are thousands of Homemade Chili Powder recipes, and others might include coriander, garlic powder, and different amounts of the basic spices. This recipe has the nice basic chili flavor, and it's not too hot.

Ingredients

  • 14 grams (2 tbsp) Paprika.
  • 1.5 grams (2 tsp) Oregano (dried type).
  • 3 grams (1 1/2 tsp) Cumin Seed or Cumin Powder. If using Cumin Powder, use half as much.
  • 3 grams (1 1/2 tsp) Onion Powder. Fresh out of Onion Powder? Just add more Fresh Onion to the main recipe (3 tbsp of Fresh Onion per 1 tsp Onion Powder).
  • 0.90 grams (1/2 tsp) Cayenne Pepper.

Preparation

  1. Mix in a bowl and transfer to a storage container or directly to your chili in progress.
  2. Use in your favorite recipe. A tablespoon or two is usually a good starting point.

Storage

Store in an airtight container for up to one year.
