Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Here's a basic Spaghetti Sauce recipe, and it's very easy to make.

This recipe includes meat or meatballs, but you can omit the meat if you just want plain sauce.

Difficulty: Easy.
Prep time: 10 minutes.
Cook time: 10 minutes + 60 minutes simmer time.
Servings: 8 ciups.

Ingredients

  • 450 grams (1 lb) Ground Beef. You can substitute meatballs, Homemade Italian Sausage, etc. for this.
  • 170 grams (1 cup) Onion (Yellow or Brown), chopped. About 1 medium onions.
  • 22 grams (4 cloves) Garlic, fresh chopped.
  • 75 grams (1/2 cup) Green Bell Pepper, seeded and chopped. If using 'piman' youl'll need about 4.
  • 800 grams (28 ounces) Canned Tomatoes, undrained. This is 1 medium can or about 2 small cans. I prefer to use the whole type rather than diced, so a little mashing is required. Wait a minute. Tomato Paste is concentrated tomatoes, and Tomato Sauce is ground tomatoes with Tomato Paste. The sauce would be richer with the Tomato Paste and Tomato Sauce indicated below, but you can get away with 4 small cans or equivalent of Tomatoes instead.
  • 450 grams (16 ounces) Tomato Sauce. See previous comment.
  • 170 grams (6 ounces) Tomato Paste. See previous comment.
  • 2.02 grams (2 tsp) Oregano (dried type).
  • 1.42 grams (2 tsp) Basil (dried leaves).
  • 5.69 grams (1 tsp) Salt.
  • 1.17 grams (1/2 tsp) Black Pepper, fresh ground.

Preparation

  1. Sauté the Ground Beef, Garlic, Green Pepper, and Onion until the meat is brown. Drain the grease.
  2. Add Tomatoes, Oregano, Basil, Salt, and Black Pepper.
  3. Simmer for 1 hour. Add a little water if it starts getting too thick.
